Nigerian Women’s Beach Volleyball Team Qualifies For 2025 World Championship

The Nigerian Women’s beach volleyball team will feature in the 2025 World Championship in Adelaide, Australia.

The Nigerian Women’s beach volleyball team secured their place in the competition at the just concluded CAVB Continental Championship in Morocco.

During the last phase of the qualification series, Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa helped Nigeria defeat Egypt 2-1 (21-14, 20-22, 15-9). This result means that the Nigerian side finished the tournament as the third-best team.

The head Coach of the team, Kayode Ajilore, is expected to start preparing the players for the World Championship, which will kick off on November 14 and end on November 23.

Meanwhile, France international Pauletta Foppa has promised to support the growth of grassroots handball in Nigeria.

Foppa, 23, made this pledge during a courtesy visit to the Handball Federation of Nigeria in Lagos.

Note that Foppa’s mother is from Akwa Ibom State and her father is Cameroonian. During her time in Nigeria, she and her parents visited the Rowe Park Sports Centre in Yaba, Lagos.

“I’m proud of my Nigerian roots and I want to give back by supporting the growth of handball, especially at the grassroots level,” Foppa said.

“One of the ways I hope to do that is by organising handball clinics for young players across the country. I also look forward to partnering with the Handball Federation of Nigeria to provide more opportunities and motivation for upcoming talents.”

In his reaction to Foppa’s courtesy visit and her promise, the president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, Samuel Ocheho hailed the kind gesture of the Handball star.

“Pauletta is a shining example of what Nigerian heritage can produce on the global stage,” Ocheho said.

“We are excited about her plans and will support her initiatives to engage with young players. Her story should inspire other players of Nigerian descent to reconnect with their roots and help grow the sport.”
