Arsenal Gets New Coach Gabriel Heinze

Arsenal have announced the appointment of Gabriel Heinze to its men’s First Team coaching staff.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Arsenal said, “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Gabriel Heinze to our coaching staff as men’s First Team Coach. Heinze, a former Argentina international, brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the club.”
The former Argentina defender, 47, is widely known for his commanding presence both on and off the pitch.
Heinze’s playing career saw him feature for top European clubs including Manchester United, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Marseille.
At the international level, Heinze earned over 70 caps for Argentina, appearing at two World Cups, the Copa América, and the 2004 Olympic Games, where he helped secure a silver medal.
Arsenal described his arrival as a boost to the club’s ambitions, adding: “We are excited with the introduction of Gabriel to our men’s first-team coaching staff, and welcome him and his family to Arsenal.”
Heinze’s coaching journey began in Argentina, where he managed Godoy Cruz, Argentinos Juniors, and Vélez Sarsfield.
He also had a spell with Atlanta United in Major League Soccer and recently returned to his boyhood club, Newell’s Old Boys, as head coach.
The timing of his appointment is seen as crucial, with the Gunners preparing for a demanding 2025-2026 season across multiple competitions.
Heinze reunites with Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta over two decades after their paths briefly crossed at Paris Saint-Germain during the 2001–2002 season.
The Argentine is known for his rigorous training approach and emphasis on defensive structure, Heinze is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to Arteta’s evolving system.
