Arne Slot Warns Liverpool: Chelsea Could Be Biggest Threat To Title Defence

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, has fired an early warning ahead of the Premier League’s opening weekend, tipping Chelsea as the team most likely to snatch the title from his side this season.

The Dutchman, who led Liverpool to the league crown in his debut campaign, begins the Reds’ title defence at 8 p.m. tonight against Bournemouth. But even before a ball has been kicked, Arne Slot has singled out Enzo Maresca’s men as the rivals to watch.

“I expected them to win last season already,” Slot told talkSPORT. “The amount of quality they have and they were there at the start of the season. They were in [the title race] after ten games. They were still there [in December].”

Slot had made a similar prediction last term, but Chelsea ultimately fell short, finishing fourth. However, their revival under Maresca, coupled with key summer signings and the silverware they won last season, has convinced him they will be genuine contenders this time.

“Squad depth, quality, they have a very good manager as well, and I think they’ve shown this by winning the trophies they won last season,” Slot added.

Chelsea enter the new campaign with renewed confidence after bolstering their squad in all areas, while Liverpool face the daunting task of matching last season’s intensity in a title race expected to be fiercely contested.
