Wike Reveals Why Babachir Lawal Is Angry With President Tinubu

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, is angry because President Bola Tinubu did not pick him as his vice presidential candidate.

According to Wike, Lawal expected Tinubu to pick him as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election, but was instead snubbed in favour of Senator Kashim Shettima.

The Minister stated that Lawal became angry about the development and visited his house in Port Harcourt, where he expressed reservations about being snubbed.

Naija News reports that Wike, who made the claim on Tuesday during an interview with Channels Television, said Lawal is still angry that Tinubu snubbed him in favour of Shettima and has refused to find a way to resolve his grievance.

“If you have a problem with Mr. President before he became President, there is no problem in you finding a way to sort out that problem. When Mr. President chose his vice presidential candidate, today, the Vice President of the country, I was one of those Babachir visited. He came to my house in Port Harcourt. He came with one of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives. His anger was that he thought Mr. President would have chosen him as the vice presidential candidate. Having not done that, everywhere had to let loose,” Wike said.
